Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) and Wuppertal Marketing GmbH (WMG) celebrated the 125th anniversary of the Suspension Railway with a large family festival. Thousands of people came together to enjoy a special day dedicated entirely to Wuppertal’s iconic landmark.
Alongside numerous games, interactive activities and entertainment, the festival focused on the special connection between the people of Wuppertal and their Suspension Railway. The exhibition “125 Stories from 125 Years of the Suspension Railway” showcased personal memories and experiences spanning several generations.
Another highlight: on the anniversary day, all visitors were able to travel on the Suspension Railway free of charge. Tickets for an exclusive ride on the historic Kaiserwagen were also raffled off.
The festival once again demonstrated that the Suspension Railway is much more than just a means of transport for Wuppertal – it is an important part of the city’s history and is closely linked to the personal memories of many people.
