The New Suspension Railway as a Miniature Model

What would Wuppertal be without its suspension railway? The unique means of transport has been an integral part of the cityscape for more than 125 years. The locals love their suspension railway, and it is missed by those who have left the city. For all genuine fans and collectors we have come up with something very special right on time for the launch of the current generation of carriages: the suspension railway for your own living room!

Base Model

The city's landmark is now available in miniature format on a scale of 1:87. The 27.5 centimetre suspension railway fits on any shelf and also works with any H0 model railway. The well-known model construction firm Herpa has produced the mini suspension railway according to the original construction plans for the new articulated train carriages. In doing so, the designers placed great emphasis above all on the details: the joint bellows in the middle of the carriage can also be slightly stretched in the miniature version, while the window rubbers, door handles and small signs are the same colour as the original.

Special Edition G15 Blue Wonder

The "Iron Lady" has been winding its way through the beautiful city on the Wupper since 1901. On December 18, 2016, the new Generation 15 began hovering. For all real fans and collectors, right on time for the start of the new generation of cars, we have launched the generation 15 railroad car. This special train is only available in a limited edition of 2,000 pieces. That means you have to be quick now.

Special Edition G15 Friedrich Engels

Friedrich Engels was born in Wuppertal, on the 28th of November 1820 in Barmen. Wuppertal is celebrating his memory from February 2020 until February 2021, the Friedrich-EngelsEventyear. For this commemoration a special edition of the suspension railway has been created.

The special edition Tuffi with its 27.5 centimeters fits all H0-modell railways. The details on these models are great, as these are constructed using the original blueprints. The joint bellows are flexible, window rubbers, door handles and the small signs are colored identical to the original.

Special Edition 50 Years of "Show with the Mouse"

In 2021, WDR's "Show with the Mouse" turned 50 years old!
During this long broadcast time, the mouse visited the Wuppertal public utility company several times to take a peek behind the scenes of the suspension railway. To emphasize this special relationship between the WSW and the Mouse, the suspension railway car 1428 became the official Mouse-Car on February 12, 2021.

The special model "50 Years of Show with the Mouse" is based on the latest generation of suspension railway cars (G15) on a scale of 1:87.

Special Edition 75 years of Wuppertaler Stadtwerke

Special edition “125 years of the suspension railway”

The suspension railway will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2026! Since its official commissioning on March 1, 1901, it has shaped not only the cityscape but also the way of life of the people of Wuppertal. Like the other models, the “125 Years of the Suspension Railway” model, in a scale of 1:87 and measuring 27.5 centimeters in length, fits on any shelf and is also compatible with any H0 model railway. It is also available in two colors: with an orange or blue carton.

Due to high demand, the model is currently sold out. A new batch has already been ordered. The new models are expected to arrive in approximately 3–4 months.
