After a long break, the historic Kaiserwagen of Wuppertal’s Suspension Railway is back – starting with an official test ride on the night of September 5th to 6th. Departing from Vohwinkel station, the iconic carriage set off with a small group of invited guests.
Accompanied by the WSW management team and technical staff, the Kaiserwagen reached speeds of up to 30 km/h above the Wupper. The focus of the ride was on testing the interaction between restored and modern components as well as the vehicle’s performance. For Wuppertal’s public utilities, this moment was much more than a technical milestone: the Kaiserwagen is a symbol of the city and will soon be available for all citizens to enjoy again.
